My movie picks this week are 'John Carpenter's The Ward' and '13 Assassins"

It’s Wednesday, so today I give you my weekly list of movies that will open in theatres this week as well as a list of movies that will be released this week on DVD.

I hope this will serve as a useful guide as to what’s going on this week if you happen to be near a movie theatre or if you’re looking for something to drop into your NetFlix queue.

Movies that are scheduled to hit theatres this week include:

- Fading of the Cries (R, Horror, Suspense): Directed by Brian Metcalf and starring Brad Dourif, Mackenzie Rosman, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Elaine Hendrix and Lateef Crowder.

- Horrible Bosses (R, Comedy): Directed by Seth Gordon and starring Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston and Kevin Spacey.

New DVD releases for the week of July 5 include:

- Bloodrayne: The Third Reich (R, Action, Horror): Directed by Uwe Boll and starring Natassia Malthe, Clint Howard, Michael Pare and Brendan Fletcher.

- Ferocious Planet (Drama, Horror, Science Fiction): Starring John Rhys-Davies and Joe Flanigan.

- Of Gods and Men (R, Drama): Directed by Xavier Beauvois and starring Lambert Wilson, Michael Lonsdale, Olivier Rabourdin, Philippe Laudenbach and Jacques Herlin.

If I could only watch one movie at the theatre this week, it would be “John Carpenter’s The Ward,” and if I had to pick just one DVD to rent this week, it would be “13 Assassins.”

In the end, let me know if you get a chance to watch any of the new movies in theatres this week or if you’ve already seen any of the movies that have just been released on DVD. What did you think about them? Which would you recommend? Let us know in the comments section below.
