The race will be held on Dec. 3 in downtown Memphis.
Bean was among the more than 3,500 participants in last year’s race event, which raised over $2.8 million to help the hospital find cures and save the lives of children with cancer and other deadly diseases.
For those of you unfamiliar with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, it is one of the world’s premier pediatric cancer research centers. Children from all 50 states and from around the world visit the hospital for treatments. Thousands more have benefited from the research conducted there – research that is shared freely with the global medical community.
St. Jude is also the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatments that are not covered by insurance. No child is denied treatment because of a family's inability to pay.

Alabama and Auburn both opened their seasons with wins on Saturday. Alabama whipped Kent State, and Auburn edged by Utah State.
It’s still too hard to say how good a team Alabama has. Kent State was a decent opponent as far as season-openers go, but we’ll know a lot more about what kind of team the Tide has after they go on the road to play Penn State.
Many people were surprised by how close the Auburn-Utah State game turned out. It’s safe to say that Utah State was better than a lot of people expected, and they had plenty of time to get ready for the defending national champions.
It’s often been said that teams improve more between the first and second week of the season than they do any time all year, and I look for Auburn’s coaches to have the Tigers better prepared to play Mississippi State on Saturday. The question is, will it be enough to overcome the Bulldogs, who looked very decent against the Memphis Tigers last Thursday.
Here are my picks for this week’s slate of SEC football games. I like Alabama over Penn State, Arkansas over New Mexico, Mississippi State over Auburn, LSU over Northwestern, Ole Miss over Southern Illinois, Florida over UAB, South Carolina over Georgia, Kentucky over Central Michigan, Tennessee over Cincinnati and Connecticut over Vanderbilt.
