Three UFO reports filed in Alabama during month of November

It’s the second week of the month, so this week I’m giving you an update on UFO reports in Alabama from the past month, courtesy of the Mutual UFO Network.

A search for UFO reports in Alabama between Nov. 1 and Nov. 30 on MUFON’s website, www.mufon.com, resulted in three reports from within our state during that time, including a report out of Flomaton.

The incident in Flomaton occurred on Nov. 1 around 3:20 a.m. The witness in that case was smoking a cigarette on his front steps, facing east and looking at the stars. All of a sudden, a “bright or close star” moved from left to right. It seemed to float as if “falling in place” and “sporadically” appeared to spiral out of control as if “jumping close,” the witness said.

“It would be very far away and then instantly be extremely close and then go back, at one point coming as close as a nearby street and splitting itself into an onion-like form, showing the mechanics and innards (with the) outside glowing orange,” the witness said.

The witness said the inside of the object looked like the “gears in a watch or clock tower with a green-colored orb in the middle.”

The object eventually got so close that the man “leaped in fear of its brilliance” and ran to get his wife. She joined him outside, and they watched the object drop a small red disk, which floated just above the tree line before returning to its “parent,” the witness said.

They watched it until it ascended into the northeast just before sunrise.

The second incident occurred on Nov. 14 in Clay, Ala., which is in northeastern Jefferson County near Birmingham.

In that incident the witness was driving north on the Clay-Trussville Road around 8:30 p.m. and saw four lights that were stationary in the northeast sky, just above the horizon.

“The lights were larger than aircraft lights and of an odd color that caught my attention,” the witness said. “The objects were staggered vertically, one above the other, and off center of each other.”

The witness watched the lights for several minutes and noted that they didn’t move up, down, left or right. The witness described the lights as being a “pinkish, peachy color” and said that they didn’t twinkle or flash. They were also of an “unusual size.”

“They were stationary and seemed to me to be several miles or more to the north and east of the intersection of Clay-Trussville Road and Deerfoot Parkway,” the witness said. “The lights were clearly visible and could easily be seen.”

The witness continued to watch these strange lights until they “shimmered momentarily and just seemed to just turn off,” he said.

The witness went on to say that he lives on the approach flight path to the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport and that he’s accustomed to seeing aircraft lights in the night sky.

“I knew instantly upon seeing these lights that they were not the normal aircraft lights,” the witness said. “When these lights remained motionless and instantly disappeared, I knew I had witnessed something unusual.”

The third incident occurred on Nov. 18 around 6:28 p.m. in Faunsdale, which is in Marengo County, south of Tuscaloosa.

In that case, the witness and his father were traveling north on State Highway 5, returning from a hunting trip.

“Dad was on the phone with my uncle when we both saw what appeared to be a bright light falling at an angle toward the road ahead of us,” the witness said. “It seemed as if suddenly a large bright streetlight appeared out of nowhere and was falling down.”

They watched as the white light turned a “yellowish-green color” and “took off into the horizon, leaving no trail of light.” The entire incident lasted two to three seconds.

“My dad told my uncle we just saw a UFO and I immediately texted my wife in Tuscaloosa,” the witness said. “She later replied that her friend saw a green object at the same time 60 or more miles away. She saw it to the northeast. I texted my wife at 6:30 p.m. and she was on the phone with her friend at 6:27 p.m.”

Before closing out this week, I just want to put it out there again that I would be very interested to hear from any readers of The Courant who have witnessed a UFO in Conecuh County. I think a lot of other people would be interested in hearing your story too, and I’d be willing to accept your report on an anonymous basis if you’d be more comfortable with that arrangement.
