From “Front Page, Upper Left Corner” column by Bob Bozeman – “Thank goodness the turkey season ended Wednesday. Not that it was really bothering me, but I had gotten quite concerned over my friends who hunt wild gobblers. Fellows like Dr. Joe Hagood, E.B. Horton, Sam Cope, Robert Moorer, Dr. Rob Stallworth, Check Ellis, J.B. Andrews, just to name a few, were getting plumb hollow-eyed.
“Tal Stuart doesn’t get hollow-eyed from loss of sleep as he hunts his turkeys at the roost and gets plenty of rest.
“Not only were these fellows showing the strain of rising long before day, morning after morning, but mumblings of mutiny were arising in many households.
“Besides, old W.A. (Boot) Thames is due a few mornings of sacking in until 5 or 6.”

Joe McClain was behind the plate for the winners and Smith for the losers.
