“Wilcox crushes Sparta Warriors 32-12 for first win: You couldn’t say the Sparta Warriors quit Friday night, but you might say they never got started at Stuart-McGehee Field. As a result, Wilcox Academy of Camden rolled to a 32-12 victory, first win of the season for the visitors.”
Don Owens scored on a 68-yard pass from Dwight Watson, and Larry Tranum scored on a 38-yard pass from Watson. Other standout Sparta players in that game included Tubby McInvale.

“In their third home stand of the season, the Evergreen Aggies were simply overpowered by the W.S. Neal Eagles of East Brewton by the score of 49-6.
“Willie Paige kept the Aggies from being shut out when he darted 31 yards for the only Aggie score, following a punt by the Eagles. The conversion attempt failed on a Paige pass to wide receiver Julius Booker.”

“Repton High School will observe homecoming this Friday. The day’s events will be climaxed by the homecoming game at 8 p.m. when the Bulldogs play the McKenzie High School Tigers.
“Ten seniors will be playing in their last homecoming game: Butch Hanks, Wayne Burch, L.J. Burch, Rickey Waters, Lee Brown, Steve Baggett, Randy Hanks, George Lint, James Bell and Hilton Ryland.
“Repton’s Bulldogs are now at the .500 mark with three wins and three losses. Victories were over Coffeeville, 32-8; Lyeffion, 34-12; and Lowndes County, 30-12.”

“Baggett Runs 25 Yards For Lone Score; Repton Takes Lyeffion 7-0: Franklin Baggett’s 25-yard dash over the Lyeffion goal line spelled the difference here Thursday night as the Bulldogs from Repton beat the Lyeffion Yellow Jackets, 7-0. Terry Nall bulled over the extra point.
“The game was played on a very wet, soggy field. After a few minutes of play, the numbers were almost completely indistinct, and at the half, the only way the fans could tell Repton players from Lyeffion players was Repton was wearing white helmets while Lyeffion wore gold helmets.”
Other standout Repton players in that game included Rayburn Waters, and standout Lyeffion players in the game included Gabe Booker and H. House.

“W.S. Neal And Weaver Romp On Aggies 14-0: Two long scoring dashes by Neal halfback Maury Weaver early in the ball game spelled the difference as the W.S. Neal Eagles sent the Evergreen Aggies down to their second defeat of the season, 14-0, last Friday night in Brewton.
“As he has been in every game of this season, Captain Wayne Frazier was a defensive standout, making a large majority of the tackles on defense and throwing vicious blocks on offense.
“Only bright spot in the Aggie offense was the running of sophomore halfback, Robbie Boykin, who picked up 50 yards in six carries and had a couple of nice gains nullified by penalties. Robert Ellington, who has been the leading Aggie ground gainer in the first three games, was hampered by a broken nose that was reinjured several times during the game.”

“Evergreen Aggies Surprise Greenville Tigers: The Evergreen Aggies came back last Friday, smarting under the stinging defeat at the hands of Red Level, and gave the Greenville Tiger the scare of his life. The lighter Aggie team was ever on the threat with big Dreaden heaving passes over the heavy Greenville line to Northcutt and Salter at the wing positions and Gaston at half. The thrill came in the third period when Salter, Aggie end, scooped up a Tiger fumble and raced 50 yards for a touchdown with ‘Speedy Lewis’ at his heels. This is the first time that an enemy has crossed the Tiger goal on the home ground in five years and the first time that an Aggie has ever crossed it. Hence the joy that prevails in the Aggie camp even in face of 25 to 7 defeat.
“At 3:15 Friday afternoon, Oct. 15, the Aggies take a fast Brewton aggregation. The followers of the Green and White will act wise in making themselves conspicuous by their presence on the sideline for this promises to be a fast and hard fought game. The Aggies are looking forward to evening up the score of their defeat two years ago.”

“Former Aggies In Baby Tiger Team: Two of Evergreen’s popular young men, who are first year students at Auburn, were included in the Baby Tiger line-up which Coach Red Brown sent against the Marion Cadets last Saturday afternoon.
“The two young men referred to are Ellis Shannon and Watson Spence. It will be remembered that these youngsters were shining stars on the fast Aggie outfit of last season. Friends predicted that they could easily make good in a college outfit and early reports indicate the truthfulness of this prophecy.”
