Eight UFO sightings were reported in Alabama during the month of October

It’s the third Thursday of the month, so this week I’m giving you an update on UFO reports in Alabama from the previous month, courtesy of the Mutual UFO Network.

A search for UFO reports in Alabama between Oct. 1 and Oct. 31 on MUFON’s website, www.mufon.com, resulted in eight reports from within our state during that time.

The first incident occurred on Thurs., Oct. 1, around 10 p.m. in Orange Beach. The witness in this case said he was sitting on a balcony at the Hampton Inn when he spotted an object moving silently from east to west in a straight line at what appeared to be around 30 to 40 miles per hour. The witness described the object as a cluster of bright lights similar to a cluster of balloons. The witness watched the object for about 10 minutes.

The second incident occurred on Mon., Oct. 12, around 1 a.m., also in Orange Beach. The witness in this case was sitting on the beach with his wife when they spotted 10 to 15 reddish-orange lights in the western sky just off the beach and over the water. They continued to watch for about five minutes as the lights moved slowly south and began disappearing one by one until only three lights in the shape of a triangle remained. Those lights too eventually disappeared, the witness said.

The third incident occurred on Tues., Oct. 13, around 3:56 p.m. in Bay Minette. The witness in this case provided few details, only saying that evidence of a UFO had been captured on a game camera. “It scared a deer as it flew by,” the witness said in his short report.

The fourth incident occurred on Thurs., Oct. 15, around midnight in Fairhope. The witness in this case was walking to his car at 12:13 a.m. when he saw what he thought was a “very bright star.” Then, the object moved in the shape of the letter “c” in the sky before fading out of sight. The witness reported being at a loss for words and being stunned by the sight.

The fifth incident occurred on Sat., Oct. 17, in Mobile. The witness in this case was taking photos of what he thought was a “Sun Dog,” that is an unusual, halo-like atmospheric phenomenon that typically consists of two bright spots on either side of the sun. When the witness reviewed his photos, he discovered an “orb” behind a contrail left behind by a passing jet. Different photos showed that the object was moving due to a “reddish displacement of the air” that could been seen in the pictures.

The sixth incident occurred on Wed., Oct. 21, around 12:02 p.m. near Pell City in St. Clair County. The witness in this case was driving east on Interstate 20, just west of Pell City, when he noticed a large, black object hovering over the highway. The witness tried recording it with his camera, and he estimated that it was about 80 feet long and about 300 feet off the ground.

The witness continued down the highway for about two more miles and eventually drove beneath the unusual object. He couldn’t see any windows or any other features of the object, which appeared stationary. The witness estimated that the object moved out of sight in about 10 minutes.

The seventh incident occurred later that same day, around 4 p.m., near Huntsville. The witness in this case had his picture taken outside during a tour of Huntsville’s Space & Rocket Center. When he got home, he reviewed the photos and spotted an “acorn-shaped” object in the sky over his left shoulder in one of the photos. The witness zoomed in on the object and noted that it didn’t appear to be a plane, helicopter, balloon, drone, blimp or kite.

The eighth and final incident occurred on Thurs., Oct. 29, around 8 p.m. in Florence, which is in Lauderdale County on the Alabama-Tennessee state line. The witness in this case and some of his friends were looking east when two “stars” appeared out of nowhere. These objects were side by side in the clear, dark sky, but not very far from the horizon. After about four minutes, the star-like objects vanished. About 10 minutes later, a “really bright star-like object” appeared low in the northern part of the sky and began moving silently north and out of sight.

Before closing out this week, I just want to put it out there again that I would be very interested to hear from anyone who have witnessed a UFO, especially in Conecuh County. I think a lot of other people would be interested in hearing your story too, and I’m willing to accept your report anonymously.
