EVERGREEN SENIOR LEAGUE:
Braves v. Tigers: The Braves scored four runs in the sixth inning to take a 5-1 win from the Pirates Monday night and break up what had been a tight ball game.
Claude Aaron’s double, a single by Larry Ellis, a walk and an error in the Pirate outfield allowed the winners their final four tallies.
The Braves tied it in the fourth when Ronnie Jackson stole home after he had walked. Jackson went all the way for the winners as did Steve Baggett for the Pirates.
Indians vs. Tigers: The Tigers scored six runs in the third inning Monday night as they mauled the Indians, 11-4.
A triple by Calvin Smith, a double by Willie Mack Pate, and singles by Sid Lambert, Mike Fields and Joe Sasser were the blows that put the Indians on the canvass for the 10-count in the third.
Lambert was three-for-three to lead the eight-hit Tiger offense. Mike Fields scored the mound win with “Bubba” Faulkner finishing the final inning. Paul Deason was plastered out of the box in the third and was replaced by Bob Ivey who finished the game.
Indians v. Pirates: The Pirates whipped the Indians, 6-5, Thursday night as the Bucs kept themselves out of last place.
George Fontaine started but Steve Baggett bagged the win as he took over in the third on the mound for the victors. Paul Deason took the loss for the Tribe although he pitched a no-hitter.
A triple by Deason highlighted the three-run Indian third as the Indians tied the game at 4-4, but the Pirates scored two more in their half of the third.
The Indians scored in the fifth when Jimmy Weaver got on on an error, worked his way to third and then stole home.

Hart Whitewashed Frisco; Johnson Wins Third Straight: The Evergreen Greenies closed in on league-leading Atmore with two wins in three starts last week. Big Edsel Johnson notched his third triumph of the season against no defeats Thursday as the Greenies slammed out an 18-hit, 12-4, win over McCullough. Johnson gave up 11 hits but was tough in the pinches. Ottis Johnson grabbed a screaming line drive with his bare hand and threw to third to complete a double play for the fielding gem of the day. Warren Bolton broke a season long hitting slump to lead the locals with four bingles.
Well rested manager Wendell Hart came back after nine days off the mound and shutout Frisco City with five hits, 9-0, for his ninth win of the season against two losses. It was Hart’s second shutout of the season. The Johnson brothers lead the Greenie batting with two hits each.
James “Lefty” Carpenter was wild in the second game of the twin bill, losing his fourth game of the season, 8-6. Frisco City got only seven scattered hits, but Carpenter’s wildness and six errors by his teammates gave them the game. The Greenies were ineffective at the plate with Carpenter garnering two of their five hits for the honors.
The Greenies play Thursday in Frisco City with E. Johnson expected to start on the hill. Evergreen’s arch rivals, Monroeville, come to town Sunday for a single game starting at 3 p.m. Manager Hart is scheduled for the mound duties.

Logue, Scout hurler, pitched a hitless game Friday night but lost to Stuart, 1-0. Gunter scored the lone run of the game as Noble spaced three hits to shutout the Scouts. It was the best game of the season and an indication of the all-around improvement in the Softball Loop.
